I imagine he would be hella hella bored. I have tons of email lists about religious and vocational matters, I mostly write about art and applying to jobs.
However, I also would be pretty mad, and would likely threaten to destroy his computer.

| Years to complete |

Some of my paintings take years to complete. I come to a place in some paintings where something is wrong and I don't know how to fix it. And eventually perhaps days, weeks, months, years later, I finally figure it out. The three paintings I am working on now I started and first showed in 2005--even when I was showing them, I knew they weren't done. As soon as I saw them outside of my dark cave of an apartment and up in the bright Wilsonville Library, I was devastated, there were so many mistakes and it was hard to tell what was going on in the paintings. Here we are about 5 years later, and I am finally getting them finished.
Besides the five paintings I am working on now (two which I started this year), I have 5 more paintings that have been hanging around for years waiting to be completed--in addition, there are two paintings that will be needed to complete a couple of series. I feel like this is my year to get all the old paintings and series finished and really have something to show for myself.

Thanks to Maeve and Cemetery Consort for your advice on my paintings. I am preparing for a gallery show this spring at local gallery called Lincoln Gallery and I want to show that series. I asked my friend to show with me, I am always afraid I won't have enough work!
I have been madly working on five canvases today. Most of them are almost done. There are the three from the previous post, Kali Ma, and an icon for Luzy. The only one that is really getting an overhaul is the picture of JR, I gessoed over the background, and I am adding a lower panel to the painting to make it more clear what is happening. As for the other two, small areas of the paintings are being reworked, but it will just be a matter of a few hours to finish them. The Kali Ma picture is really coming along, and a friend of mine who is Hindu/Buddhist/Whatev really likes it so far and said she wanted to buy it (I don't know whether she could afford it or not, so well have to see). Pretty soon I need to get started on a few new ones, I have three commissions and a gift for my brother's birthday I have to get started on. Hopefully most of the ones I am working on right now will be done by New Years and I can focus on the new work.

| Eggo Shortage! |

So last month, I read an article (click for the link!) in the newspaper about an Eggo shortage. I didn't really think it would be that serious, but when I was at Walmart yesterday, I saw this:
There were some Eggo products, but I didn't think the shelves would be that empty. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I lost a warm breakfast alternative for the next couple of months. I don't eat Eggos very often, but they are a good breakfast option. And with all this cold weather lately, I would definitely prefer a warm Eggo over cold cereal. Oh well.
Anyway, I realize that I haven't updated in 3 months and that this entry isn't much of an update, haha. But I'm just about to wrap up my last fall quarter of college (omg, WHAT?!) , so as soon as that's done, I promise to write something with more substance. Thanks for being patient!

So I have this painting http://schnellestudios.com/JRsmall.jpg, I really love most of it, well mainly I like the job I did on JR (the main figure of the painting). The image is of a pair of woman's legs straddling a man with his eyes closed and mouth open expressively. However, the poses of the figures is often misunderstood to be one figure, the legs are currently an optical illusion that could be considered a part of the JR figure rather than a separate figure.
My question is:
I have seen paintings where the artist took a second stretched canvas the same width, but a different height and hung it below another painting to continue the piece on a different panel http://sharonhodgson.com/art/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/futureguitarplayer.jpg (the panels can be hung flush against each other or with space in between). I want to do something like this, because this painting does not fit on a square and should have been made on a rectangle from the beginning. Do you think that would work in this painting?
I would extend the woman's legs and panties (and maybe feet) onto the second canvas panel, making it more clear what is happening in the image.
So basically, do you like paintings that go over two canvas panels? And do you think that technique would help your understanding of this image (I am not trying to impose any emotional content onto you, I just want the poses of the two figures to be better understood).
The question above is the most pressing, if you want to give me advice on other pieces please look under the cuts. I really welcome all ideas that will help make it more clear that parts of a second figure, a woman are appearing in these pictures. (As a note, some of the backgrounds in these suck, I know and plan on fixing them, I don't particularly need input on that part)
( input questions for other paintings below cut )
